That sounds scary Medusa...I know a doctor's office or smaller private clinic can refuse patients...especially with unpaid bills...but even if I owed my whole bill at the hospital...they couldn't refuse to treat me.
I DO know that a kid that works for my dad had pancreatitis (sp?). He was at the local hospital (Brandon Regional), but could only do so much, the treatment he REALLY needed was at Tampa General. THEY were refusing a transfer b/c he had no insurance. So Brandon discharged him...and then his wife took him in through the ER at Tampa General...and he was taken care of and discharged after the treatment. I have to assume they knew that would happen...but I think if you are transfered the payment is different...if he's brought in through the ER, they could bill medicaid. |

4qs,
It is a part of our system to allow committee debate before a bill is introduced. Until then, the President cant give specifics, he can only remind the various committees to come up with their own specifics, such as who will pay for what and how. He already did that when he told Congress not to introduce either a new bill or changes to an old bill without including specifics on how to pay for it. Thats part of the function of Congress and Mr. Reich should be aware of that. What Mr. Reich has done in the article youve |

First I would like to just read the bill. What government agency do we have that is run effectively and efficiently? US Mail? I guess I’m the wing nut that is “crazy” because he questions the governments ability to run health care. Why not make changes, for the better, a little at a time? Why completely reinvent the wheel without really knowing the effects?
Here is an idea: Let the States vote on it. The States that vote to have Gov’t health care do and those that don’t, don’t. In three years we can see what is working better and the States could vote again. |
